Helter Skelter in Greenwich

Fujifilm X-Pro2, 35.0mm, 1/550s, f/8.0, ISO 200

Over the May Day bank holiday weekend we caught up with some of Liz's old university friends and their families, ending one of the days in Greenwich after a walk across Blackheath and through Greenwich Park.

We settled down by the river to eat ice cream, near where an old-fashioned helter skelter has been set up for the summer. With the weather turning nice and bright, the vibrant colours of the helter skelter really stood out against the sky.

Capturing this image involved stitching 15 individual hand-held frames together in Lightroom: I had the X-Pro2 with me and the 35mm f/1.4 lens. I was pretty lazy and took the shots from my position seated by one of the flower beds without a huge amount of regard for overall image composition and so I had to crop out the top of Alex's buggy at the bottom of the image, but I actually quite like having the helter skelter anchored in the frame: it opens up the sky and gives some extra scale to the slide.
